Summer Has Begun!

Yes, finally the school days are over and the fun summer days have begun. Within the first week of summer, our family has already had Mom and I go to Girl's Camp and Gene go on a High Adventure trip. I only have the details for Girl's Camp and not the High Adventure Trip, but I believe Gene had a great time. Okay, on to the details.

We have gone to Lake Hartwell for the past 2 years and it is one of the prettiest places ever made. I truly enjoy camping there, and I don't really enjoy camping hardly at all. We have had the same campsite and same spot on the campsite for both years and so Mom is always just in the tent next door. This year, in our tent we had six people, which I consider a huge accomplishment because of how much stuff we are told to bring with us. We went canoeing, swimming, did the Camp Manuel pass offs, made crafts, had ward testimony meetings on Friday night, and a Singing Tree, which happens just after the sun goes down and every ward/branch has their own tree which they stand around. Every person within the ward has a flashlight and when their ward time comes, every one within the ward turns on their flashlight and sings a song of their choice. It is really cool to hear the other wards and feel the Spirit in such a interesting way.
While we were there, it rained twice, and we stayed in our tents for the time it rained. It was actually quite fun because I got to know my tent roomies a little bit better and had a great time doing so. We played the Skittle game, cards, and just talked and it was just plain nice. I think by the end of camp they were a little tired of me and my whining for milk, my bed, and my dog, Henry. Oh, well.
So summer has truly begun and we have already gone swimming, camping, and have lots more plans up our sleeves. What is everybody else doing for summer break?

It may be summertime, but Sabrina has school until June 20. The pool in our neighborhood opened last weekend, but it has been 70 degrees and rainy all week so we haven't gone.

Sounds like a great fun girls camp! I like the SingingTree.

It sounds like you had a great time at camp. I always loved girls camp. That is cool your mom got to go, too.

We aren't doing much this summer. We are going to Utah for a Miller reunion at Bear Lake and that's about it.
